SAINT OF THE WEEK
St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus (1stOctober), lovingly known as the “Little Flower,” shows us that holiness is found not in grand deeds but in small acts of love offered to God. Entering the Carmelite convent at fifteen, she embraced hiddenness and trust, offering every task, no matter how ordinary, as an act of love. Her “Little Way” invites each of us to live with simplicity, humility, and confidence in God’s mercy.
Hans Urs von Balthasar beautifully captured her significance: “In Thérèse, God shows us how his infinite greatness can dwell in the smallest, most ordinary love, transforming it into something eternal.”
As we mark her feast on October 1,may we imitate her childlike trust and bring Christ’s love into our daily lives whether in our families, workplaces, or parish. Like Thérèse, let us believe that nothing done with love is ever small in God’s eyes.

SAFEGUARDING SUNDAY TODAY
The annual Diocesan Safeguarding Sunday takes place today. It’s a time when we reflect on the importance of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults in our parishes and communities.
This year Archbishop Farrell has asked us to consider how we might contribute to a safer society for children and young people, beyond what we do in our own parishes and diocesan organisations.
There is research that tells us that the safeguarding measures taken by church and other organisations where abuse occurred in the past have been effective. That itself is the first and most important lesson: that when people come together with determination to protect children their actions can have positive results.
May we strive to be a safe haven for children and the most vulnerable, always placing their needs at the centre of our Gospel calling.
