Dear Friends,
Today is the Fifth Sunday after Easter
On this Sunday, Pope Leo XIV formally begins his pontificate. Let us pray especially for him today and keep him in prayer in, hopefully, the many years to come! He is a great blessing to the Church at this time – an inspired choice!

SAINT OF THEWEEK – Saint of the Week – Saint Bernadine of Siena – Tuesday, 20th May
Born in Aquila, Italy in 1380. As a young man he took charge of the La Scala Hospital in Sienawhen most of the staff were carried off by an epidemic. In 1402, he became a Franciscan friar and soon had a reputation as a great preacher. He travelled the length and breadth of Italy, preaching. In his sermons, he denounced greed among the clergy and the constant warring factions between the noble families of Italian cities. It has been said of Bernadine that he inaugurated in Italy‘ one of those rare periods in history when the rule of Jesus made visible progress in society’. He died in 1444 in Aquila.

JUNE MESSENGER-
Two themes emerge from the June Messenger: connectedness and change. The importance of reaching out to others, being in communion with one another and living in a state of friendliness and goodwill is vital in breaking down barriers and in negating a ‘them’ and ‘us’ mentality, particularly in today’s insular, individualistic society.
And of course, the June Messenger contains the complete Novena to the Sacred Heart, for readers to pray and reflect on.
Available in the shop.
LAUDATO SI’ WEEK (24-31 MAY)
In this year’s Laudato Si’ week, we celebrate the 10 years since Laudato Si’ was published, and we celebrate the life and legacy of Pope Francis. The theme for this week is: “Raising Hope”; "Let us sing as we go. May our struggles and our concern for this planet never take away the joy of our hope". LS 244
ENERGY IN YOURHOME: ASK THE EXPERT
It is 10 years since the publication of Pope Francis’s encyclical Laudato Si’. We are all called to “care for our common home”. One of the ways in which we might do that is to be mindful of the energy we use in our own homes. A Sustainable Energy Community has been established in the Archdiocese of Dublin to identify practical ways in which we can conserve energy (electricity and heating) and the drafting of a diocesan energy masterplan is underway. This month, on Tuesday, May 20, at 7pm, we are providing an online event in conjunction with the SEAI. The event will offer an opportunity for parishioners to find out more about how to save energy at home – both through low-cost measures and through investing in energy upgrades with SEAI grants. This online event will provide an opportunity for homeowners to 'Ask the Expert' on grants and retrofitting.
