Saint of the Week - Saint Aiden of Lindisfarne (+651) – Monday. 31st August
Aiden was possibly born in the West of Ireland and joined the monastery of Iona which had been founded by St. Columba. Aiden founded a monastery on the Island of Lindisfarne and became bishop there in 635. He, and his monks, were responsible for the evangelization of Northumbria. Aiden’s missionary method was to engage the people patiently, sharing with them the content of the Christian faith. He founded many monasteries throughout Northumbria. Aiden is venerated in the Roman Catholic, Anglican and Orthodox Church.
Proposed Course in the Autumn
I propose offering an introductory course on the Early Years of Christian Theology and Spirituality (33 AD – 1,000AD ) in the autumn. You do not have to have any prior knowledge of this subject. I would hope to make the talks as accessible as possible. These talks will take place on Saturday mornings from 10.00 am. to 12 noon in the John Sullivan Room. There will be a break for tea/coffee. The first talk in this series will be on Saturday, 26th September.
Volunteers to read at Mass and forthe Choir
Margaret (our soloist) and Seamus(our organist) always welcome new members to join the choir. Rehearsals are on a Sunday morningat 10.30am in the John Sullivan Room, before the 11.00am Mass.
Reading Club
We will begin our autumn session on Monday, 28th September. We will be reading Consider Jesus – Waves of Renewal in Christology by Elizabeth A. Johnson.

MATT TALBOT CENTENARY CLOSING CEREMONY
You are cordially invited to attend Our Lady of Lourdes Church for a Healing Mass to celebrate the closure of the centenary year of Matt on Sunday, September 6, at 4pm. Celebrant Fr John Keane. Followed by a presentation of a new documentary film of Matt Talbot at the Odeon Cinema, Point Village, at 6.30pm.
ST MARY’S CATHEDRAL WILL CLOSE TEMPORARILY to allow essential conservation, accessibility and renewal works as part of the next phase in its development as the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Dublin. During the closure period, major diocesan liturgies will take place in St Andrew’s Church, Westland Row.
Parish administration work will continue as normal, though it may experience initial delays while they relocate to St. Joseph's Church, Berkeley Road, Dublin 7, D07 F592.

Our thirst for God can remind us of those without clean water. This week, consider doing a leak audit and making any needed repairs.
