Dear Friends,

Today is theSecond Sunday of Lent

The Novena ofGrace begins next Wednesday, 4th March. Leaflets detailing the times of Massesare at the back of the church. We will pray for each other’s intentions duringthis important time together.

 Preacher forthe Novena of Grace

Fr. Brian Christopher will be our preacher this year. Brian is coming to us all the way from Belize in Central America. In 2022, Brian celebrated 25 years as a Jesuit. In those years, Brian has worked among refugees in Ethiopia, with AIDS patients in Minneapolis, with gang-involved youth in Chicago, with young prisoners in Belize. He has also served as a parish priest. He is currently superior of theJesuit community in Belize. Brian should have some interesting stories to share with us.

Saint of theWeek – Saint Casimir – Thursday, 5th March

Born in Cracow in 1458, Casimir was the second son of King Casimir IV of Poland. In 1471, an attempt was made to put the young Casimir on the throne of Hungary. The attempt failed, much to Casimir’s satisfaction! Casimir’s real interests were in faith and prayer and in promoting peace. In 1483, he rejected a proposed marriage with a daughter of the Emperor Frederick III, having bound himself to a life of celibacy. Casimir died of tuberculosis in 1484. He was buried at Vilna. Miracles were reported at his tomb. Casimir is a patron saint of Poland.

Margaret (our soloist) and Seamus (our organist) would welcome people to join the choir. Rehearsals are on a Sunday morning at 10.15am before the 11.00am Mass.
